NFL Taps Jay-Z for 2027 Super Bowl LXI Halftime in Inglewood

The NFL confirmed on Monday that Jay-Z will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl LXI, scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The announcement came during the Cowboys-Eagles Monday Night Football broadcast. ABC's Scott Van Pelt relayed the news to viewers, and analyst Jason Kelce called Jay-Z "the GOAT." Puck reported the story first.

Jay-Z has curated the halftime show through Roc Nation under an NFL partnership that began in 2019 and was renewed in 2024. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he told Roc Nation when the deal was signed that he hoped Jay-Z would eventually take the stage himself. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage," Jay-Z said in a statement, adding that the performance continues to feel like a dream.

He follows Bad Bunny, who played the halftime show at Super Bowl LX earlier this year at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. That set ran more than 13 minutes and included "Tití Me Preguntó," "Eoo," "El Apagón" and "DtMF."

Super Bowl LXI will air on ABC and ESPN. The halftime performance will also stream internationally on Disney+. Apple's vp of music and international content, Oliver Schusser, called Jay-Z's influence on global music culture "as profound as it is undeniable." ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro noted that Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards.

The 2019 agreement between the league and Roc Nation followed the NFL's handling of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Jay-Z first backed Kaepernick publicly before the two later split. In September 2026, Kaepernick told NBC News that Jay-Z had aligned with "the same NFL that has blackballed me."

Super Bowl LXI is set for Sunday, Feb. 14, at SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
