Cowboys and Eagles Meet Monday After Division Goes Winless
Both teams sit at 2-4 as the NFC East posts its first zero-win doubleheader since 1970, with each side facing major personnel questions.

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will try to break a divisional slump when they meet in Philadelphia on Monday night. Both teams are 2-4, and a win for either side would keep them in the hunt for the NFC East lead. The division has been stagnant, with all four teams combining for a 0-8 record over the last two weeks. That marks the first time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that an NFL division has gone winless for two straight weekends.
The New York Giants currently hold the division lead at 3-2-1. Behind them, the Cowboys and Eagles are separated by a half-game, making Monday's result pivotal for their playoff hopes. The Eagles are dealing with a four-game losing streak, their longest since 2020. Their offense has sputtered, scoring just 58 points in those four losses. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season with blood clots, handing the starting job to Tanner McKee.
McKee has started two games previously, but both came after the Eagles had already secured a playoff berth. Last week's loss to the Carolina Panthers was his first meaningful start. He had only two days of first-team practice before that game. This week, he has a full week to work with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. McKee said he feels better prepared and plans to consult more closely with the coaching staff rather than preparing alone.
The Eagles' running game is also in disarray. Saquon Barkley is dealing with a hamstring injury, and his backups Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are also hurt. Carson Steele, signed from the practice squad last week, suffered a shoulder injury against Carolina. Dameon Pierce was the only running back to carry the ball in that game, gaining 35 yards. The Cowboys have allowed 4.7 yards per carry this season, which could give McKee and the offensive line some breathing room.
Dallas has its own struggles. The defense ranks 30th in the league under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. Offensively, the team scored only 29 points in its last two losses, including a 23-13 defeat to Green Bay last week. Dak Prescott has now scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive starts for the first time since 2019. Owner Jerry Jones said at the NFL's fall meeting on Wednesday that he does not expect to make further coaching changes this season. He described the recent hiring of defensive assistant Mike Pettine as a strategic move.
Individual records are on the line for the Cowboys. Javonte Williams has seven rushing touchdowns in six games, second only to Emmitt Smith's 1994 and 1995 totals in franchise history. CeeDee Lamb has 48 receptions, the most in team history through six games, and is closing in on 8,000 career receiving yards. For the Eagles, tight end Dallas Goedert needs one catch to move into third place on the franchise's career receptions list.
The Cowboys are favored by four points. Dallas is 3-3 against the spread, while Philadelphia is 1-5. Dallas leads the all-time series 72-58 and won their last meeting 24-21 on Nov. 23, 2025. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN. The Eagles will travel to Washington on Nov. 1, then host the Giants to finish their divisional schedule.
