October rains forced the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce to move its annual street fair, pushing the event into the first weekend of November. The rescheduling gives residents and tourists another opportunity to visit the Hudson River Valley village before the winter season begins.

Beekman Avenue will shut down to automobile traffic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8. The closure creates a car-free corridor where dogs are welcome. Organizers expect thousands of visitors to walk the historic district. The fair features 145 vendors selling arts, crafts, food, and beverages. Local businesses will prop their doors open or set up tables on the sidewalks to sell their goods.

Lucia Ballas-Traynor, the chamber’s executive director, called the event a community tradition. She stated, “Whether you’ve lived here for generations or are visiting us for the very first time, there’s an extraordinary energy when our streets fill with local makers, eateries, and shops.” Ballas-Traynor added that the fair highlights the unique spirit of Sleepy Hollow.

The schedule includes specific Halloween-themed performances. Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk will perform at 12 noon in front of Ganso Ramen. A Headless Horseman character will appear at the same location from 1 to 4 p.m. The group Witches Along the Hudson will perform at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. near Pocantico Street. Luis Enrique’s Andean Flutes Band will play at the Beekman Lot.

Live music will take place at the Beekman Parking Lot Entrance throughout the day. Scoot and Marlena of The Kulprits open the lineup at 11 a.m. They will be followed by Brad & Nate from The Incumbents Acoustic at 12:15 p.m. The band the BUMP plays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The Altogether performs from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. Polish John closes the musical schedule from 4 to 5 p.m.

Visitors have limited parking options. The village will open the East Parcel Parking Lot at 60 Continental St. Organizers advise attendees to use public transit because parking is scarce. Two Metro-North stations, Tarrytown and Philipse Manor, are less than a mile from Beekman Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to park in Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Croton Harmon, or Hastings-on-Hudson and take the train into the fair.
