The Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10 on Sunday night in Landover, Md., securing their first victory in more than a month. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Washington and extended Philadelphia's losing streak to six games.
Washington trailed 10-0 after a penalty-riddled first quarter but scored 27 consecutive points to take control. Quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for 217 yards and one touchdown, connecting with Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard score in the second quarter. The Commanders' defense sacked Eagles quarterback Tanner McKee five times and intercepted one pass, holding Philadelphia to just 199 total yards before a meaningless final drive.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged the team's struggles, stating that opponents expect to win against them now. "I know nobody feels sorry for us, that's for damn sure," Sirianni said. "Everyone is going to give us their best shot. I know nobody feels sorry for us and we have to do everything we can do to fix it so we don't have this feeling for the last six games. Obviously, it sucks."
Daniels noted the physical and mental challenges of the season. "It's a blessing from God just to go out there, and everything I've been through in my career so far," he said. "From different injuries and a lot of different setbacks." The victory marks Daniels' first win as a starter since the 2025 season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley rushed for a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter but was limited to 30 yards on 13 carries. The Eagles finished with 91 rushing yards. Philadelphia's Jake Elliott missed a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter after an illegal formation penalty forced a repeat attempt. Washington kicker Drew Stevens converted four field goals, including a 56-yarder late in the first quarter.
The Commanders entered the game on a bye week and struggled to find early rhythm. Coach Dan Quinn said the team needed time to adjust. "When you come off of a bye, you either rev right up or you need a minute to warm up, and we took a minute," Quinn said. Cornerback Trey Amos added that the defense made necessary adjustments after a slow start. "We started a little bit slow, those things will happen sometimes, but after those adjustments, everybody came together to try and figure out a plan. It worked out, later down the line, series, quarters," Amos said.
The Eagles are now in last place in the NFC East. Washington remains in the division race, sitting two games behind the New York Giants. The Eagles will host the Giants on Sunday, while the Commanders will host the Los Angeles Rams.
