The new mouse costs $169.99 and adds two buttons, but the redesign pushes thumb controls out of comfortable reach for some users.

Razer has released the Basilisk V4 Pro, a refreshed gaming mouse that costs $169.99 and promises 200 hours of battery life. The update marks the first major change to the Basilisk line since October 2024. While the device offers longer endurance and a lighter frame, the new button layout has drawn criticism for placing controls in awkward positions.
The mouse measures 5.02 inches long and weighs 3.53 ounces in black, making it almost half an ounce lighter than the previous V3 Pro 35K model. It connects via 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or USB-C. The hardware includes Razer’s Focus Pro 50K optical sensor, which supports polling rates up to 8,000 Hz and a maximum of 50,000 DPI. The switches are rated for more than 100 million clicks.
The primary design change involves the addition of two new buttons, bringing the total count to 12. A third thumb button sits in front of the existing pair and triggers Razer’s AI prompt by default. A separate button next to the left mouse click switches profiles. Sarah Jacobsson Purewal, a senior editor at Tom’s Hardware, noted that the profile button is positioned too far forward for comfortable use with medium-sized hands. She described the AI button as a larger issue, stating that its size pushes the other thumb buttons backward, making them difficult to reach without remapping.
Battery performance has improved from 150 hours on the previous model to 200 hours at standard 1,000 Hz polling over 2.4GHz. At the maximum 8,000 Hz setting, the life drops to 54 hours. The device comes in black and white. Razer is also selling the Mouse Dock V2 Pro for $69.99, a wireless charging station with an integrated 8,000 Hz receiver and eight RGB zones that is compatible with several older Razer mice.
The review praised the mouse’s tactile wheel modes and overall shape, which suits various game genres. However, it flagged the price and the slightly large size as drawbacks. The box includes a USB-A dongle, an adapter, and a 6-foot braided cable, but no grip tape or HyperFlex cable. The mouse is available for purchase now.
The Basilisk V4 Pro sits between the DeathAdder V4 Pro and the Naga V3 Pro in Razer’s lineup. It targets players who want more functionality than a basic shooter mouse but do not require a high number of buttons. The previous model, the V3 Pro 35K, was updated in 2024 primarily with a new sensor, whereas the V4 Pro changes the physical form and button configuration.
