Carle Place secured its 14th consecutive Nassau Class C field hockey championship with a 4-0 victory over third-seeded Cold Spring Harbor on Friday at Seaford High School. The Frogs, seeded first, are now 8-6 on the season, while Cold Spring Harbor finished the year at 1-13.

The scoring opened when freshman Madison Pellegrino pushed the ball from the right side just over three minutes into the second quarter. Emi Coronel followed with two goals. Her first came on a diving reverse sweep assisted by Pellegrino in the second quarter, and her second was a shot from the top of the circle in the third. Erin Morgan added a goal in the fourth quarter.

Coach Elissa Frein said the program treats each title with the same weight. "Every year is just as important as the year before," Frein said. "Every year feels like something special and it means so much to us. We've worked so hard to get to this point and these girls are beyond coachable. I feel like every year it just gets better and better."

Coronel, a four-year varsity starter, said the team's history drives its work at practice. "Knowing how Carle Place field hockey plays really drives us to keep pushing at practice and in games," Coronel said. "We know how we're supposed to play, we know the legacy that Carle Place holds and that's a really motivating factor for us."

Pellegrino, who assisted Coronel's first goal, said the team's bond is visible on the field. "This team is so close, so it's good to know that we have another game together," Pellegrino said. "It's so great that we get to celebrate and share this. We've been working really well and I think we can play really well as a team in the next game."

Carle Place is scheduled to face Bayport-Blue Point in the Long Island Class C championship and Southeast Regional Final. The game is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Adelphi.
