Ten people are hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash near the Parker House Haunted Attraction in Denton. Denton police are still investigating the cause of the accident, and the current medical status of the victims is unknown.
The collision happened on October 31 around 7:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of W. University Drive. Preliminary findings show that two cars were trying to turn into the haunted house when a third car rear-ended one of them. That impact pushed the first car into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a tractor semi.
The pile-up blocked the westbound lanes of Highway 380 for several hours while first responders cleared the scene. Two of the ten victims are in critical condition. Police stated that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Maria Salas, a resident living near the scene, told FOX 4 she was asleep when the impact occurred. She described the sound as the loudest bang she has ever heard. Salas said the amount of screaming afterward made her believe people had died. She now wants more traffic control near the attraction.
Denton Police confirmed the investigation remains open. They have not yet released a final determination on how the vehicles entered the intersection or why the third car struck the turning vehicles.
