The maximum federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment for 2026 is $994 for a single individual. Recipients of this benefit will receive their November checks on Friday, October 30, rather than the standard first of the month. The Social Security Administration (SSA) shifted the date because November 1, 2026, is a Sunday. This scheduling change means some beneficiaries will see two SSI deposits in October, one for the current month and one for the upcoming month.

The early deposit is an advance based on the calendar, not a bonus or an increase in the benefit amount. Because of this shift, recipients should not expect another regular SSI payment during November. The next scheduled payment date is Tuesday, December 1. This pattern ensures that benefits are not issued on weekends when banking systems may be closed or operating on limited hours.

SSI is designed for adults and children with limited income and resources who have a disability or blindness, as well as individuals aged 65 or older who meet specific economic criteria. Reaching age 65 does not automatically qualify a person for the program. The SSA reviews available funds and other countable resources to determine eligibility. The general limit for countable resources is $2,000 for a single person and $3,000 for a couple. Additional requirements apply for non-U.S. citizens.

The $994 figure represents the maximum federal monthly amount for a single individual in 2026. For a married couple where both spouses meet the requirements, the maximum is $1,491. Actual payments are often lower and depend on the beneficiary's income, the income of certain relatives, and housing situations. For example, a spouse's earnings can affect the calculation for an adult, while a parent's income may factor into the calculation for a child. Some states provide additional supplements that can raise the total amount received.

Individuals who receive both SSI and Social Security retirement or disability benefits follow two different payment schedules. The SSI payment for November arrives on October 30. The accompanying Social Security benefit is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3. This November 3 date applies to those who started receiving Social Security before May 1997. Other beneficiaries receive their payments on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month, depending on their birth date. If a payment does not arrive on the expected date, the SSA advises waiting three additional days before contacting the agency.
