The Roseville Raiders claimed the Metro Maroon subdistrict title on Friday night, capping the Class 6A regular season with a decisive 24-14 victory over Coon Rapids. This win marks the most significant achievement for the program in nearly a decade, ending their season with a 4-4 record. That tally represents their best performance since 2017, a milestone that provides a strong foundation as they approach the postseason.
Senior quarterback Chase Browning was the engine behind the Raiders' offensive success. He completed passes for 162 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the win. Browning expressed the team's relief and joy after the final whistle. "It's an amazing feeling," Browning said. "I don't even have words for it. We've all worked so hard. It's great to see it finally paying off."
Elsewhere in the East Metro, Centennial dominated Anoka with a 38-6 score. This performance likely guarantees the Cougars a No. 3 seed in the Class 6A playoffs. The result positions them as a serious threat to advance deep into November. For Anoka, the loss had a silver lining. They were held to just six points, which is the first time this season their opponents have kept them in single digits.
In the Metro East, Mounds View secured sole possession of their subdistrict title with a narrow 22-16 win over White Bear Lake. The game was tight until the final minute. Trailing by two points, the Mustangs struck back when quarterback Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining. A successful two-point conversion extended their lead to six. Preston Johnson then intercepted a pass on the Bears' next possession to close out the contest. The Mounds View defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to just six completions on 24 attempts.
East Ridge ended a challenging season with a 42-31 victory over rival Woodbury. Logan Tretter rushed for two touchdowns, and Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score that put the game out of reach. The win provides some closure for a team that likely faced more difficulties than anticipated during the regular season.
Individual brilliance also shone through on the night. Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich was the standout performer, rushing for 245 yards and two touchdowns. The Rangers defeated Stillwater 31-13, a result that locks in a No. 2 seed for the playoffs. Jurkovich, who has committed to play for St. Thomas, finished the regular season with 1,600 rushing yards. Park junior receiver Manny Vargas also made an impact, scoring twice in the Wolfpack's 18-10 win over Eastview. He caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 75 yards for a score.
The most dramatic conclusion of the night occurred in the south metro. Lakeville South kicker Dylan Nelson hit a 36-yard field goal with one second left on the clock. The kick gave the Cougars a 17-14 upset victory over Rosemount. This late win complicates the seeding landscape for the Class 6A playoffs in that region, setting up an interesting start to the postseason.
