Hispanic voters in Mecklenburg County have already cast more ballots in the current early voting period than they did in the entirety of the 2022 midterm election. State voting data compiled through October 31 indicates that 16,137 Hispanic residents cast ballots. That figure exceeds the 11,141 Hispanic voters who participated in the previous midterm cycle, despite Election Day being scheduled for Tuesday.

The demographic represents 5.4% of the 299,003 total ballots cast during this early voting window. Women constituted the majority of this group, accounting for approximately 60% of the Hispanic ballots. Younger voters drove much of the turnout. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 40 made up 56% of the Hispanic vote, totaling more than 9,000 ballots. This group included 4,323 voters aged 18 to 25 and 4,722 voters aged 26 to 40.

Party registration patterns showed registered Democrats casting the largest share of ballots, with 8,407 votes. Unaffiliated voters followed with 6,404 ballots. Registered Republicans cast 1,249 votes. The data reflects a shift from the 2024 presidential election, where many Hispanic voters moved toward the Republican party. Democrats are now counting on this early surge to help build a majority in the upcoming midterms.

The county’s total early vote stands at nearly 300,000 ballots. The Hispanic participation rate in early voting has outpaced previous midterm benchmarks. The breakdown by age and gender suggests a specific demographic focus for the final days of the campaign. The numbers are drawn directly from state election records through the end of October.
