Community sports events are often viewed as safe havens for local talent, yet a violent incident in Queensland has challenged that perception. Four people were injured in a drive-by shooting outside a venue in Loganholme, a suburb south of Brisbane, according to police reports released on Friday.

The sequence of events began at 8:15 pm when officers received calls about gunfire at a licensed premises. Witnesses reported that shots were fired from a vehicle, which was subsequently seen departing the scene. Emergency responders transported the four victims to a hospital, where medical staff are currently assessing their conditions. The location, Fitzys Loganholme on Bryants Road, was preparing for the Logan City Titles Fight Night, an event scheduled for that Saturday.

Deputy Commander Chris Stream of the Queensland police described the scene as confronting to media outlets. He confirmed that several individuals had sustained gunshot wounds. Local leadership reacted swiftly to the news. Logan mayor Jon Raven expressed that residents were frightened by the sudden violence. Raven noted to the Today show that the incident had sent a shockwave through the area, stating that such an event was unprecedented in Logan.

The mayor emphasized the personal impact on the community, directing his thoughts toward the victims and the staff present that evening. Raven recalled attending similar events in the past and described them as family-friendly environments where many children participated. He warned that the trauma of the shooting could affect those attendees for the rest of their lives.

Raven explained that the night was specifically organized to steer young people away from violence. He noted that the event organizer uses boxing as a tool to empower and reconnect youth who might otherwise struggle. Raven suggested that the organizer would be devastated because the outcome was the opposite of the intended message. The event was meant to showcase local talent and hard work within the ring.

On Sunday morning, the Logan City Titles posted a statement on social media expressing their heartbreak over the incident. The organizers reiterated that the event was designed for the community to highlight skills and effort. They stated that such incidents have no place in the boxing community or the broader public sphere. The group emphasized the importance of the event for local residents.

Police have announced that the offenders remain at large. However, authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public. Investigators are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact them to help solve the case.
