Random Farms Kids’ Theater and Broadway Workshop will hold auditions on November 7 and 8 for their annual Industry Showcase Night. The Westchester non-profit and the New York City organization have scheduled the sessions to allow young performers to present their skills directly to industry leaders.
Auditions take place on November 7 at Ripley Grier, located at 520 Eighth Avenue in New York City, and on November 8 at the Random Farms studio in Thornwood. The events remain open to any young person between the ages of 5 and 18. Selected performers will join a rehearsal on November 22, followed by a dress rehearsal and the main performance on November 30 at Theater 555 in New York City.
The showcase aims to place kids and teens in front of top agents, managers, and casting directors. Anya Wallach, founder and CEO of Random Farms, will direct the event alongside James Scarola, executive director of Broadway Workshop. Cameron Anika Hill, a past participant in the showcase, will also direct. Hill holds Broadway credits for Elf and Dear Evan Hansen.
Prospective performers must prepare one minute of material. This can be a song, a monologue, or a mix of both. The organizers encourage applicants to tell a joke, make up a commercial, or tell a story. Industry professionals state they are looking for raw talent and value personality over polished preparation. The event carries no cost for auditions or participation.
Previous participants include actors who have since appeared on Broadway and in national tours. Gianna Harris performed in & Juliet and Hell’s Kitchen, while Ashley Lalonde appeared in Dirty Dancing and the national tour of Hamilton. Reece Boyle toured in The Sound of Music and Harrison Fox in Les Misérables. On screen, past participants include Jeremy Rosenfeld, Gabrielle Uhl, Rachel Resheff, Larry Saperstein, and Remi Tuckman. Interested individuals can sign up at RandomFarmsNY.org/Showcase or BroadwayWorkshop.com.
