16 voters face police checks 11 days before Pelham Manor vote
Detectives visit 16 voters in Pelham Manor residency probe.

A local Democrat named Mark Cardwell is using official election law procedures to challenge the residency of 16 voters in Pelham Manor. Police detectives visited 16 local voters' homes just 11 days before the election to investigate their residency. This is the second time in two years that Pelham Manor voters have been targeted by these procedures. None of the 16 individuals targeted in this latest sweep are registered Democrats. Mr. Cardwell claims to have personal knowledge of the voters, but several of the affected voters have never met or spoken to him.
In 2024, armed officers from the Westchester County District Attorney’s office were similarly sent to residents’ homes to investigate absentee ballots from the March 2024 village election. In that instance, not a single targeted individual was a registered Democrat. One woman fell to her knees in tears upon seeing law enforcement at her door, fearing officers were delivering news that her child had died in an accident. The timing of these maneuvers is highly suspect and represents clear voter intimidation. This behavior is reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials and the authoritarian systems in China, North Korea, and Egypt, the country my parents emigrated from nearly 60 years ago.
In 2015, on the morning of my daughter’s First Communion, a 'neighbor' filed a fraudulent, anonymous CPS report claiming my children were left unattended, and even explicitly referenced my national heritage. While investigators quickly realized the claim was unfounded, my family endured a two-month invasion of privacy that leaves scars to this day. As we observe Veterans Day on November 11th, we honor the brave service members who fought to defend our freedom and our sacred right to vote, a fundamental liberty that billions of people around the world strive for. It is a profound tragedy that right here in Pelham Manor, some neighbors are attempting to strip away that very right through intimidation and baseless challenges.
While election integrity is vital, deploying armed officers to inspect voters’ homes right before an election degrades civic trust and inflicts severe emotional distress. Political rivalries should be settled at the ballot box, not through police visits on our doorsteps.
