BYD Yangwang has set a price of 2 million yuan, or $300,000, for its new flagship electric sedan, which will debut in the United Arab Emirates before arriving in China.

Yangwang general manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed this week that the global launch will take place in the UAE, though no specific date has been announced. The car is scheduled to make its official debut in October 2026. Local reports estimate the vehicle's length at 5,500 mm, or 216 inches, placing its size in line with the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The sedan represents a major shift for BYD, a company previously known for affordable models like the Seagull, which sells for under $10,000 in China. BYD has expanded its lineup in recent years to include three sub-brands, Denza, FangChengBao, and Yangwang, as well as the Dynasty and Ocean families. Yangwang occupies the top of this hierarchy and serves as a testbed for the company's newest engineering.

Hu Xiaoqing shared images of the disguised prototype last month. Zheng Yu, Yangwang's executive general manager, stated that the car will feature "unprecedented disruptive technology" but did not specify details. The vehicle was spotted at a BYD Flash Charging station, suggesting it will support megawatt flash charging. It also features rear-hinged coach doors, a design first used by the company.

Reports indicate this sedan will be the first BYD model to use solid-state batteries. Executive vice president Stella Li told Carwow.es in September 2026 that BYD's first solid-state battery vehicle would debut in 2027. Earlier Yangwang models, such as those using the e4 platform, delivered 1,300 horsepower and utilized the DiSus-X intelligent body control system.

The new sedan will sit above the U8L, the brand's current highest-priced mass-produced vehicle, which starts at 1.45 million yuan, or $217,000. The U7 electric sedan begins at 658,000 yuan, or $98,000. The Yangwang lineup also includes the U9 electric super-coupe and the U8 and U8L plug-in hybrid SUVs.
